Update from Stop Zena Development: Decision Unlikely to be Issued Tonight

Writer: Stop Zena DevelopmentStop Zena Development

Expected Later in October or November

There is a Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting tonight, but we don't expect the Eastwoods Drive ruling to be delivered at the meeting. While we don't know for sure, it is unlikely that the ZBA will be ready to render a decision given the fact that both sides of the appeal just submitted final supplemental documentation Tuesday afternoon.

We will have a representative at the meeting to keep us posted, but we do not anticipate the appeal being discussed. It's a bit like reading tea leaves, but we are assuming it will take time to review and deliberate after receiving updated submissions from attorneys representing Woodstock Land Conservancy and Zena Development.

The ZBA's next meetings are Oct. 24 and Nov. 14. The decision could be announced at either of those meetings. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

If you missed the final session of the ZBA public hearing, you can review it here.

This is the map utilized at both ZBA meetings. Zena Development's property includes acres that are designated as part of a Critical Environmental Area and abuts many protected lands stewarded by the Woodstock Land Conservancy and Ruby Rod & Gun Club. It also abuts part of the Bluestone Wild Forest.

This undeveloped land is critical as a wildlife corridor. It includes important biodiversity and a significant forest that helps to sequester carbon. It is critical that this land is protected and stewarded rather than developed.
